Reconstruction and Practice of the Mechanical Foundation Teaching Model for Emerging Engineering Education:Competition-Driven and AI-Empowered

Abstract
To address the core challenges in the Mechanical Foundation course under the context of Emerging Engineering Education—namely, the disconnection between teaching content and frontier technologies,as well as the insufficiency in cultivating students'practical and innovative abilities—this study, supported by the "AI-Empowered Education and Teaching"Special Project,proposes an innovative teaching model that integrates "Competition–Course–Project"with dual AI-empowered "Learning–Application"loops. Taking intelligent fault diagnosis of rotating machinery as a specific entry point,the model deeply embeds disciplinary competition tasks into the main thread of the course, while constructing a "smart diagnosis–personalized feedback"learning loop and a "case-driven–project-practice"application loop.This design enables goal-driven learning and spiral competence development.Pedagogical practice demonstrates that the model effectively stimulates students'learning interest and significantly enhances their comprehensive competencies in analyzing complex engineering problems,applying intelligent algorithms,and engaging in innovative practice.This study provides a feasible pathway for curriculum reform in mechanical engineering programs at regional universities under the Emerging Engineering framework.
