Abstract

With the in-depth advancement of the Healthy China strategy and the continuous upgrading of the medical and health industry, the demand for high-quality, application-oriented ophthalmic medical professionals has become increasingly urgent. The disconnect between traditional medical education models and industry practice has given rise to the need for innovative reforms in industry-education integration and collaborative education models involving both enterprises and intercollegiate partnerships.Research Purpose: This paper takes the development of the Ophthalmic Medical Sciences program at Baotou Medical College as the research object, systematically elaborating on its educational philosophy and practical pathways of “relying on industry and enterprises, and intercollegiate collaborative education.” It explores effective approaches to improving talent cultivation quality through industry-education integration and collaboration between schools and enterprises, providing referenceable experience for the program development of local application-oriented medical colleges.Research Methods: By establishing a school-enterprise and intercollegiate collaboration mechanism, the following specific measures were implemented: jointly formulating talent cultivation programs, co-building practical teaching bases, co-developing “double-qualified” teaching teams, co-conducting clinical research projects, and co-creating AI+ophthalmology project research and development. These efforts achieved the organic integration of the education chain, talent chain, industry chain, and innovation chain.Research Findings: Practice has shown that this educational model significantly enhanced students’ professional competencies in ophthalmic medicine, their innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities in intelligent ophthalmic technology, and their clinical post competency. It effectively addressed the disconnect between traditional education and practice, achieving a precise alignment between talent cultivation and industry demands.Research Conclusion: The educational model of “relying on industry and enterprises, and intercollegiate collaborative education” in the Ophthalmic Medical Sciences program at Baotou Medical College has achieved remarkable results, providing a replicable “Baotou Medical College Experience” for the program construction and development of local application-oriented medical colleges. It holds significant reference value for promoting medical education reform in the context of industry-education integration.
